About Oli & Carol

Oli & Carol logo

Oli & Carol is a fun, creative and happy brand run by two young creative sisters - Olimpia and Carolina, from Barcelona.  They create the most amazing, vintage inspired,100% natural rubber baby toys that are great to use in the bath, to put up on display and are safe for babies to chew on.  All of the products are designed in Barcelona and made in Morocco.

The Oli & Carol range are made from 100% latex from Malaysian Hevea trees and is a natural, ecological and biodegradable product.  They are hand painted with food grade dyes and are free of PVC, BPA, Phthalate and Nitrosamine - making them a great non toxic toy for your baby to chew on.  All of the range (except the chew fruits) are made without holes, making them perfect for bath time - there is no worry about build up of yucky mould inside from trapped moisture.

The other great thing about this sister duo is the compassion they have for children who are unable to afford and experience the simple pleasure of playing with toys.  They have donated some natural rubber toys to a school in North India - Baba Jodh Sachiyar Public School, in a hope to brighten their days.

We hope you love these baby toys as much as we do for their vintage designs, non toxic materials, bright colours and interesting texture for fingers and mouths to explore.

Development of Skills

Fine Motor skills  Gross Motor Skills  Sensory skills  Thinking & Problem Solving skills

(Please see icon key below)

The Oli & Carol range helps to build a variety of skills including:

  • Fine Motor Skills:  the different shapes and the lightweight nature of this range makes it easier for fingers and hands that are just discovering movement to grasp and move around.  These toys are made for chewing and one of the first lot of fine motor movements that babies learn to control is the movement of their mouth and tongue, so these toys are perfect for encouraging this.
  • Gross Motor Skills:  The whole range helps to develop a wide variety of gross motor skills such as bringing a toy to the mouth (one of the first lot of gross motor skills to develop) all the way to rolling and throwing a ball and building with blocks.
  • Sensory Skills:  The wonderful texture of natural rubber is a great alternative to some of the softer toys made from cotton or the hardness of wooden or plastic toys.  The handmade nature of these toys means there are lumps and bumps and this, along with the springiness of the rubber and the bright colours used in the range, stimulate the sensory system.  Babies also like to experience sensations in their mouth and will lick and chew objects to stimulate these senses.  The Oli & Carol range are perfect for this as they are made from non toxic materials and are easy to clean, making sure it is a safe experience for your baby.
  • Thinking & Problem Solving Skills:  Shapes help to start build the idea of spatial awareness - knowing where your body and objects are in space as well as their orientation (e.g. upside down, on top of, under etc.).  The geometric shapes in this range will be one of baby’s first experience of building as they are easy to grip and lightweight.  Building requires spatial awareness and problem solving to make sure the objects don’t fall down.  The vintage animals and forest creatures will also stimulate imaginative play in toddlers and young children.
