Dumye is one of the most beautiful brands and it ticks so many boxes for what we at Wild and Whimsical Things feel toy makers should be doing.

Sahar Wahbeh is the wonder woman behind the brand and created these beautiful dolls after looking high and low for something special for her daughter.  That special doll that is cherished becomes part of their childhood memories.  Sahara found it difficult to find something that captured both her heart and her daughters spirit and that is when the first Dumye doll was born.

In the journey of creating the Dumye dolls, Sahar also wanted to teach her daughter what was important in life - to respect the environment, have compassion for others and that the real gift in life is giving to others.  The materials used for these dolls are environmentally friendly - using organic cotton, natural dyes and sustainable materials.  Production for some of the materials has been commissioned by an NGO in a poverty stricken area of India.  The proceeds that they receive goes towards education for the next generation of girls in their community.  The best part about these dolls - for every doll you buy, another doll is gifted to one of the millions of children orphaned around the world and give them an opportunity to make it their own.  At Dumye, this is known as Karmic GoodnessTM.

The other special thing about these dolls are the Purpose PocketsTM.  Each doll comes with a pocket on the backside with a little piece of blank cloth tucked into it, awaiting a meaningful message.  It could be an affirmation, words of wisdom and encouragement, a prayer or words of love.  The doll and your words can be kept close and whisper into their hearts for many years to come.  If you are stuck for inspiration on what to write on the blank cloth, you can visit the Dumye blog for some ideas - find it here.

We love these dolls not only for all of the reasons above, but because they are so beautifully made with wonderful attention to detail on the clothing and accessories and they don’t feel too delicate to be played and loved by our children.
