Lille Huset Logan House Dollhouse Kit

Product Description

Product Description

The Lille Huset Logan Dollhouse kit is your own little house to decorate and love - inspired by a little Victorian house.

Logan is the house that is so big and perfect that all of the other houses think of him as a castle.  He is a house that sits on the grand boulevard with high peaks that seem to reach the sky.  The owners of this house keep the house in perfect condition no matter the season.  All year round, they keep twinkle lights on the one little tree that sits in the middle of the perfect lawn.  Each and every night when the lights turn on he seems even more magical.

You can build your own home using the slot panels that have different patterns on each side and decorate it with the accessory sheet inside, the free downloadable sheets online or use your creativity and use bits and pieces from around the home.  You can even draw on the walls.

Our Lyra range of pencils would make the perfect combination if you are getting this as a gift.  View the Lyra range here.

About Lille Huset

Lille Huset is simply little house in Norwegian and is pronounced "lilla hoosa".

Lille Huset was created by Alyson Beaton from Grow Studio and was inspired from her background as an architect.  She wanted to teach children about architecture and design as well as get children imagining, playing and creating.  The designs are based on little houses all over the world, each with their own little story.

Alyson’s Norwegian heritage influences the designs which are elegant and simple.  The dollhouses and accessories are environmentally friendly - made from 100% recycled paperboard and made in the USA.

The dollhouses come with accessory sheets and sets can be mixed together to create little towns.  There are also accessory packs to add furniture and dolls to play with, but the idea behind these houses is for children to be inventive and use what materials you have around the house, or their imagination.  Create and design the houses how you like - the walls can be drawn on, use washi tape to decorate or print some free downloads out from the Lille Huset website.

Development of Skills

Thinking & Problem solving skills icon  Fine Motor skills icon  Emotional skills icon  Communication skills icon

(Please see tab below for icon key)

The Lille Huset dollhouses help build a variety of skills:

  • Thinking & Problem Solving skills:  children develop more of their spatial awareness when building things.  Spatial awareness is knowing where your body is and where objects are in relation to the space around you, as well as their orientation (e.g. upside down, on top of, under etc.).  Building also requires problem solving skills to put it together (e.g. to work out what order objects need to be put together to keep the building up, figuring out what type of materials are appropriate for construction).  Creativity in decorating the house also stimulates thinking and problem solving skills (working out the best way to stick a painting on the wall or how to turn popsicle sticks into a bed)
  • Fine Motor skills:  building the dollhouses requires development of fine motor skills to manipulate the pieces of the house to fit them together, cutting out the accessories and placing them in and around the house, as well as using other art and craft materials to decorate the house (e.g. glue, sticky tape, drawing with pencils or crayons, hole punch and threading string through the holes)
  • Emotional skills:  developing and working on a project helps to strengthen skills, which, in turn help to build confidence.  Confidence helps to build self esteem which is an important factor in your mental health.  Playing with creativity also helps children to explore emotions.
  • Communication skills:  Reading instructions and asking adults to help with this project builds on communication skills.  These dollhouses are great for encouraging friends to play with each other which helps build non verbal and verbal communication skills, along with listening and waiting and taking turns.  When playing alone, children will often talk amongst themselves and further develop their communication skills (e.g. may practice naming objects in the house, sentence structure, turn taking with imaginary friends and role playing with dolls).
