About Numero 74

Numero 74 logo

Numero 74 is a beautiful textile, fashion and party collection range.  At it’s heart is a deep desire to keep childhood dreams alive by adding a bit of poetry and beauty to their daily life, and to let their imagination run free.

This Italian brand was founded by two cousins - Poupy, an entrepreneur with a science and mathematics background and Nancy who has worked in fashion within the Parisian couture houses.  Their love of Thailand led them to source their workmanship from a women’s cooperative that helps provide women with a steady income and source of employment.  This allows them to work from home while they are looking after their family.

Each piece is individually handmade from beautiful, quality fabrics including wool, cashmere, cotton and linen.  The textures, soft muted colours and vintage designs make each Numero 74 piece a delight to wear and play with.  They are truly pieces to cherish and hand down to the next generation.  Make believe games have never been so luxurious.

Due to the handmade nature of each design from Numero 74 and the vision to create supportive and fair working environments for the women’s cooperative, some designs are made in limited quantities and take time to make.  This may mean long waiting periods if items are pre ordered or limited restocks.  We hope you understand that this is to continue supporting the high standards that Numero 74 places on providing supportive working environments for their Thai female artisans.  This is why we love this brand so much (but also for their exquisite eye for design).

Development of Skills

The Numero 74 range of dress up clothes and imaginary play accessories helps to build a range of developmental skills including:

  • Emotional skills:  dress up clothes and accessories help to provide a platform for children to imagine and create.  Imagination and creativity doesn’t have any boundaries and children feel free to express their thoughts and feelings and explore expressions of emotions.  Younger children often appear more confident when they are allowed to pretend and imagine being in another world that they create and control.
  • Thinking & Problem Solving skills:  dress up clothes and accessories are tools to stimulate imaginary worlds, where children can explore the world around them, using their minds to imagine and create.  Children use a combination of things that they have seen around them, along with their thoughts and feelings and experiment with ideas to create imaginary worlds, pretend play and role playing.
  • Communication skills:  while engaging in imaginary, pretend or role playing, children often practice communication skills either with other people or with objects that they imagine are real.  They practice turn taking, listening and use of verbal and non verbal (e.g. gesturing, facial expressions) skills during play.
  • Gross Motor skills:  capes, wands, wings and other accessories that encourage games that include large movements of the arms in a coordinated manner as well as running, climbing and jumping, all help build and strengthen gross motor skills.

*This information is provided for help with normal development and safety measures should always be taken to ensure children are playing with age appropriate toys (e.g. don't let a small child who is likely to swallow toys to play with an item that carries the Not for under 3 icon).
